Backyard Living with the Barbecue, Cabana and Firepit
Dressing up the backyard with your favourite pastime accessories can increase the quality time spent in your backyard oasis. A good quality barbecue will make outdoor cooking fun instead of a chore. Forget the old briquettes, charcoal and lighter fluid and step up to a modern, long-lasting barbecue with room enough to throw on steaks or burgers for all of your visitors.
A cabana or other covered awning can create the shady spaces needed to endure the hot direct sun. There are many free standing units including ones sold at Costco and other big box stores that will work fine for this.

Firepits can either be hooked up to a permanent gas line or some can be used with a propane tank. The advantages of using a propane tank are that the pit can be moved, relocated or used in other places easily. There is also no costly installation with a propane tank model. The problem is that the tank needs to be refilled periodically.
The advantage of a fixed gas line is that there is no need to drive and refill a tank, but with a second tank and coupling the trip with a bar-b-que tank, that may be the best option. Once a fixed line is put in, then the firepit cannot be used elsewhere as easily, but you will never need to run for fuel.
